About Q Branch Woodworks
My name is Brad, and from my one-man workshop, I believe in a simple philosophy: the most beautiful objects are the ones we love to use. A wooden bowl shouldn't just be an object of beauty; it should be a vessel for joy in your everyday life.
This belief is at the heart of everything I create at Q Branch Woodworks. Each piece is an intimate collaboration between my hands and the wood's own quiet story. I source my materials with intention, primarily using local wood from fallen trees or sustainable forestry operations. This ensures every bowl carries a piece of our landscape within it, minimizing our impact and honoring the material's origin.
My process is a patient one. I begin by hand-turning the wood while it is still "green," or full of moisture. This is just the first step in a long conversation with the material. I then set the rough-hewn form aside for months, sometimes even years. During this slow, natural drying process, the wood finds its own voice—it moves, settles, and evolves, revealing a unique character that can never be forced or replicated.
Only when the wood is stable do I return it to the lathe for its final turning. It is in this finishing process that the wood’s true soul is revealed—the intricate grain, the subtle shifts in color, the perfect imperfections that tell its story. The result is more than just a bowl; it is a piece of functional art, meticulously shaped and finished with natural, food-safe oils, ready to become a part of your home.
My passion is to craft pieces that are not only visually stunning but durable enough to be woven into the fabric of your life—to hold the fruit on your counter, to serve the salad at a family gathering, and to become a cherished heirloom passed down with stories of its own.
