I hand-turned and carved this walnut bowl from a lovely piece of walnut sourced from Capay, California.
The carving and sanding is arduous, time-consuming, and leaves blisters.
In this case, I think it's totally worth it.
This bowl has a natural void that will make it difficult to serve food with, but it's a gorgeous decorative piece. I also appended the finish with several thousand hand-carved dots. Please enjoy the video on how it was made:
